Experience REALLY matters. This is what I remember most about Captain Tim of Cast Away Fishing Charters. I predominantly fish lakes, so saltwater marsh fishing was a new experience for me.
Starting with planning the charter according to the tide and weather, he expertly located channels where fish could be located and snagged. With 20+ years experience, he not only knew where to find them, but he also could expertlycast bait to within inches of the egde of a channel or inlet being fished.
He was great at knowing how long to stay; was considerate of his fellow fishermen; was patient and instructive with me; and quickly learned what kind of music I liked, my skills (eroded over the years), and balanced the love of the water and scenery with just enough chit-chat. I did lose a big redfish right at the end (because I did not pay enough attention to keep my line from getting hing on the gear), but did manage to catch a decent Spanish mackerel and redfish earlier. I cooked the filets when I got home, and they were delish.
The only downside to the trip was how fast the half-day went. All in all, a great trip, and VERY enjoyable. I highly recommend this experienced pro.
